Photo de stock - Appartment complex built in stye of soacialist realism in Ostrava Poruba The suburb of Poruba is very valuable from the architectural point of view because it is a nice example of the unique urban and architectonic designs of newly built settlements The first and the second building stages, originating in the 1950´s, are the most interesting They are expressions of the so_called socialist realism in architecture, marked by the monumental style and historicism, which looked for inspiration in antiquity, the Renaissance and Classicism Apart from the monumental and wide boulevards lined by linden alleys and houses reminding us of palaces along Main Street, most houses are decorated with historical architectonic supplements like ramps, columns with ionic capitals, sgraffiti, embossing, balustrades, etc The housing complex, which is unique within the context of European architecture, was designed by a team of architects led by Ing arch Vladimir Meduna This area has been a municipal historical site since 2003 CTK Photo/Josef Horazny
