The incentive was ?10 for every minute she performed over the world record time. The offer was made by Mr. Joseph Mourat, 50, owner of the Gallipoli restaurant in the City where Soraya had danced for the last two days. Soraya would have been entitled to ?2,400, but Mr. Mourat said generously 'For the Queen of belly dancers, I make it ?5,000. Every hour Soraya had a five minute break and at the end of her record-breaking ordeal her feet were covered in blisters and she lost 12 pounds in weight.
