Spain Mountain goats (Capra pyrenaica hispanica) are a species of goat native to the Iberian Peninsula and southern France. They are found in rocky, mountainous areas and are adapted for life in cold, rugged environments. Mountain goats are usually solitary creatures, but sometimes form small herds or pairs. They graze on grasses, herbs, lichens, and shrubs. Male mountain goats are known for having thick, curved horns and long coats. As they mature, mountain goats develop characteristic gray-brown coloring, with various amounts of white depending on the individual. Young mountain goats are almost entirely white. These animals have strong climbing abilities and can be found scaling steep terrain and cliff sides up to 13,000 feet.
