Biographie

I am a polar & mountain photographer & writer privileged to have had 31 seasons in Antarctica, in the Arctic and 22 expeditions & assignments to Himalayan countries, Tibet, India, Nepal, Pakistan etc. I live in New Zealand so enjoy taking landscapes of the Southern Alps.

My imagery is dedicated to help raise an awareness of the need to look after environments in all polar and mountain regions.

Any special artistic influences?
My mother was a children's book artist so maybe something rubbed of in terms of my interest in natural history and landscape composition
What is the best photographic advice that you have ever received?
A mentor in England who also specialized in mountain photography taught me how to come away from almost every situation, no matter how 'average' the light, with an image that 'works' for a client.
If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be?
I also love writing for travel & expedition magazines and book publishers
