Photo de stock - World War II - FRANCE. Tanks, Hotchkiss H-35, Hotchkiss H 35 40093. The Hotchkiss H-35 was a light French tank employed by the French Army during World War II. Produced between 1935 and 1940 by Hotchkiss et Cie, the H-35 was designed to fill the gap between the world wars which had seen the French Army adopt the largely obsolescent Renault FTs from WWI. The Hotchkiss H-35 was powered by a 4-cylinder petrol engine that was capable of producing 45 Horsepower at 2600 rpm. It had a top speed of 34 km/h and a maximum range of nearly 200 kilometers. It was armed with a short 37mm main gun as well as a machine gun mounted in the turret. The Hotchkiss H-35 was fairly reliable and was the backbone of the French armored forces leading up to the start of WWII. It served as a stopgap during the early parts of the war and despite being outclassed by the German Panzer II and Panzer III, it was still employed in battle. This particular tank, serial number 40093, is part of the collection held by the National Armor and Cavalry Museum in Fort Benning, Georgia.
