Laycock engineering manufactured a wide range of vehicle testing equipment from their base in Sheffield. The photograph shows a brake-testing machine at their works in Sheffield. The car being tested is a Renault 16 TL automatic which were first produced in 1965 from the purpose built plant in Sandouville, near Le Havre in France. The production ran for 15 years until 1980 when it was replaced by the Renault 20. The car would have been a new model in September of 1972.
