Stock Photo - Photograph showing the opening in the roof of the gas chamber at Majdanek Concentration Camp, into which Zyklon-B crystals were poured, 1944. In this picture a Soviet soldier can be seen holding the cover of the opening. Majdanek, near Lublin in Poland, was run as a concentration camp by the Waffen-SS between 1941 and 1944. Although the Germans attempted to destroy the evidence of their atrocities at the camp, there was too much to hide and the Russian army captured much of the camp intact.
