Stock Photo - 27 May 2020, Brandenburg, Kleinmachnow: A weathered and dented sign with the inscription ""An der Stammbahn"" has grown into the trunk of a birch tree. The Stammbahn is the approximately straight-line railway connection between Potsdam via Griebnitzsee, Kleinmachnow and Zehlendorf to Berlin/Potsdamer Platz. It was the first Prussian railway line to go into operation in 1838 and was extended to Magdeburg. The connection was destroyed in the war and is still interrupted today. There are several proposals for the revival of the main line, but also protests from an alliance of conservationists and local residents.
