Stock Photo - 27 October 2020, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Kirchdorf: The new mast for the sailing ship replica of the Poeler Kogge ""Wissemara"" is towed by two inflatable boats through the Wismar Bay. For cost reasons, the Poeler Kogge development association is transporting the 32-metre-long trunk along the eleven-kilometre sea route from a shipyard on the island of Poel to the home port of Wismar, floating in the water. The trunk of a 140-year-old Douglas fir has been debarked, planed smooth and sawn to length since July 2020. For the coming season, the new mast will then be mounted over the next few months on a replica of the Hanseatic cog from the 14th century.
