Stock Photo - Thiksey Gompa (Thiksey Monastery) in Ladakh, India. The Tiksey Gompa (Thiksay Gompa) is located in the Indus Valley approximately 19 kilometres east of the town of Leh. The monastery is located at an altitude of 3,600 metres (11,800 ft.) and is a 12-storey complex and houses many items of Buddhist art and it is famous for the 15 metres (49 ft.) high statue of the Maitreya (future Buddha) which is the largest such statue in Ladakh covering two stories of the building.
