The landmarked ´´ruin´´ designed by the noted architect Philip Johnson has fallen into disrepair over the years. The NYC Dept. of Parks and Recreation estimated that it would costs $72 million to fully restore it, preserving it as a ´´ruin´´ but stabilized would run $50 million and demolition would only cost $14 million. A number of elected officials and preservationists are working toward preservation of the historic structure. This year is the 50th anniversary of the World´s Fair.
