Stock Photo - The first commercial-scale wind turbine in New York, located at the Sunset Park Material Recovery Facility in Brooklyn is dedicated. The turbine at the Sims Metal Management MFR is 160 feet tall including the blades, cost $750, 000 and will pay for itself within five years. Made by Northern Power Systems the turbine will generate 4 percent of the power needed by the recycling facility. Added to the solar panels 20 percent of the facility´s energy will be from renewable sources.
