Stock Photo - Mudpots in the Krafla volcanic area, Krafla caldera. The volcanic activity episode called Krafla Fires took place during 1979_84 in this caldera. The lava flowed from a row of craters in the area of Leirhnjúkur. There was an earlier eruption event in the area called Mývatn Fires, which took place in 1720´s. Krafla is located in the Mývatn region in Norðurland eystra North_East Iceland.
