In 1611 the pestilence raged in the village and the farmers and the workmen solemnly promised to honour the holy Sebastian every year on January when he set free them of the pestilence. The pestilence retired an the people of Oberschwarzach kept their promise till today. Photo shows The mayor Eduard Herold is the 'captain' on the Sebastian-Bay. Finally when the 'home Guard' is ready he comes with two 'officer' to take the command. Then they mar with wood-lances an axes through the street to the church for the divine service.
