Stock Photo - May 01, 1981 - 1st May 1981 Bergerac follows in shoestring?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s footsteps ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú NBC TV is hoping to repeat the enormous success of its private eye series ?¢‚Ǩ?ìShoestring?¢‚Ǩ¬ù with its new ten-part thriller series ?¢‚Ǩ?ìBergerac?¢‚Ǩ¬ù. Due to the screened on BBC-1 this autumn and produced by Robert Banks Stewart who made ?¢‚Ǩ?ìShoestring?¢‚Ǩ¬ù, the new series is set on the island of Jersey. Jim Bergerac is a detective sergeant in the ?¢‚Ǩ?ìBureau d?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢etrangers?¢‚Ǩ¬ù, the police department which deals with residents who were not born on the island. The title role is played by John Nettles, and Cecile Paoli, a young actress from Marseilles, plays Francine, a young girl who works for the Jersey Tourist Office. She is also a part-time portrait painter who offers a temporary zoom to Bergerac.
