The samples are prepared by hand for further examination in the automated machine in the PCR laboratory at the University Medical Center. Over 170,000 samples have been tested for coronavirus in the laboratories of the Friedrich-Löffler Institute for Medical Microbiology over the past two years. The swabs come from the University Hospital itself, from Wolgast Hospital and from the public testing center. Between 350 and 700 new PCR tests are performed every day.
