Founded at the end of 1995, the Schlaubetal Nature Park in the East Brandenburg heath and lake region covers 227 square kilometers. The area was essentially shaped by the last ice age. More than two thirds of the nature park are covered with forest. Characteristic for the Schlaubetal is the abundance of lakes and lake chains shaped by the ice age.
