Catching the fish is part of the fishing project of the August Bier Foundation. The Sauen forest district has a very long and traditional history, which was established even before August Bier's (1861-1949) time. In 1912, August Bier, a nationally and internationally famous surgeon, acquired the Sauen forest estate between Beeskow and Fürstenwalde in Brandenburg. The property was enlarged by additional purchase to an area of about 1,000 hectares. August Bier wanted to finally realize his long-cherished wish and create a forest himself according to his philosophical ideas and experiences. About 460 species of shrubs and trees grow here.
