Stock Photo - 02 June 2020, Brandenburg, Stützkow: A flowering orchid of the species Helmet Orchid (Orchis militaris) on the Galovian Mountains in the Lower Oder Valley National Park. At present, orchids are being counted on the meadows in the National Park to supplement statistics that have been kept for several years. About three species of orchids grow in the Lower Oder Valley National Park, which was established in 1995 as the twelfth national park in Germany. It covers about 10,500 hectares. The Oder Valley is one of the last near-natural river floodplain landscapes in western Central Europe with a large number of endangered animal and plant species. Every year it attracts hikers, cyclists and nature lovers to the unspoilt landscape on the German-Polish border in the north-east of Brandenburg.
