The Elbe tunnel, which is just under 1.2 kilometers long and can be walked through, is intended to connect the Hafen energy park with its combined-cycle gas turbine power plant, which is still under construction, and the industrial waste heat from the port operations with the district heating network on the north bank of the Elbe.
