The Hanseatic City of Stralsund wants to buy and refurbish the sail training ship Gorch Fock I. The Hanseatic City, the Tall Ship Friends owners' association, the Ministry of Economics and the Ministry of the Interior, as well as the State Development Institute have found a joint way to do this. According to the Tall Ship Friends association, the 82-metre-long sail training ship was built in 1933 by Blohm+Voss in Hamburg. On 30 April 1945, the Wehrmacht blew up the ship in the Strelasund off Stralsund. The ship went to the Soviet Union as a reparation in 1951 and was christened ""Towarishch"" (""Comrade"").
