The approximately three-hectare site belonged to members of the small English community, who created an artfully decorated English Park here towards the end of the 19th century. Around 1920 the park was opened to the public. Amidst the lush Mediterranean vegetation are small temples and sculptures and some Victorian-style brick buildings.
