The lessons are part of the project ""Na Ponta dos Pes"" (On the toes), which was initiated six years ago. In the beginning seven girls took part in the ballet lessons, today there are 40. The project was set up by Tuany Nascimento. The young teacher trained where the lessons take place today. ""Kids watched me do it. That's how I came up with the idea of teaching them what I can do,"" says Tuany, who has not yet received any financial support from the state. ""Our goal isn't just to teach the girls how to dance.
