Stock Photo - 04 December 2022, Saxony-Anhalt, Harzgerode: Marco Runschke, deputy mine manager, stands in a narrow passageway in the Glasebach mine, where remnants of the original miners' work can also be seen. The Glasebach mine museum, which is famous for the old mining tradition in the Lower Harz, has reopened to visitors after an eight-week closure period. The reason for the closure was a collapse underground, which has been repaired. After the collapse, guests can now enter the show mine again and learn about old mining in the Harz region, for example about historical Gangerz mining. The Glasebach mine is located in the Straßberg district of Harzgerode. Mining in the region goes back to the time around 1400. Since June 1995 it has been a show mine open all year round. The museum shows underground mining from the 17th to the 19th century, and the open-air site also features equipment from GDR times. Photo: Matthias Bein/dpa/ZB. - Harzgerode/Saxony-Anhalt/Germany
