Local residents and conservationists played music along the Oder River for the protection of the river. An estimated several hundred people gathered on Sunday afternoon for various actions, according to the organizers. Many brought musical instruments, including double bass, violin, guitar and accordion. Others gathered at the Oder dike and sang in groups for the restoration and renaturation of the river. Since early August, tons of dead fish had been recovered from the German-Polish border river. Several hundred chemical substances could be implicated as contributors to the environmental disaster, but the exact cause is still unclear.
