The grain that fell out of the combine and the seeds of the unwanted weeds have germinated. A total herbicide containing the active ingredient glyphosate was then applied to the fresh green leaves. This causes the green plants to die (right) and their leaves to turn a characteristic yellow. The farmer can thus also eliminate the long-lived root weeds before sowing a new crop.
