Due to the many rains of the past months, the heath is blooming particularly intensively this year. Decades of use as a military training area have created extensive heath landscapes in the southern part of the Schlaubetal Nature Park. A large-scale nature reserve of 30 square kilometers has been established to ensure the formation of new groundwater and to protect many animal and plant species.
