The German subsidiary of the Swiss commodities company Blackstone Resources is starting to produce printed battery cells in Saxony. The energy density of the LFP cells produced using 3D printing technology is said to be 220 Wh/kg; previous cells deliver around 150 Wh/kg. At the start of production, Blackstone employs 14 people in Döbeln, and this figure is set to rise to 38 in the course of 2022. The advantage of the production method lies in the rapid adaptability of the cells to the various requirements for e-mobility and the communications industry.
