Sievert belongs to a redevelopment association with around 60 voluntary members who are responsible for the preservation of the area. For this they receive a subsidy of 2.4 million euros from the European Union (EFRE). Built for military purposes in 1873, it was considered one of the strongest and most modern Prussian fortresses.
