In recent years, the forest here has been badly affected not only by drought and bark beetles, but also by several storms. In order to ensure the quick removal of the felled timber and to take away the bark beetle's attack surface, even the loading station in Pockau-Lengefeld was reactivated in 2020. In 2019 alone, bark beetles in Saxony left behind more than two million cubic metres of damaged wood on several thousand hectares of forest.
