Stock Photo - 10 June 2020, France, Paris: The base of a monument to the French astronomer, physicist and politician François Arago (1786 to 1853). According to an inscription, the statue, of which only the base is preserved, was destroyed during the Second World War by the Vichy regime, which collaborated with Nazi Germany. According to the guide ""Paris Méconnu"" (""Unknown Paris""), bronze melted down during the war was used, among other things, for the production of weapons. The monument has not yet been restored.
