The politician, who came from a slum in Rio, was one of the country's most prominent human rights activists and was a member of the city parliament for the leftist party Socialism and Freedom (PSOL). She was shot dead by unknown persons in the center of Rio. The 38-year-old had accused the police of several murders, most recently the day before her murder. ""Our princess was active, dynamic and dedicated"", says Marinete. After 59 days, ""My grief is the same, we are thankful that many people are on our side"" adds Marinete.
