Stock Photo - 10 September 2021, Brandenburg, Brandenburg/Havel: Director Andrea Kausmann holds a two-month-old hedgehog in her hand at the Krugpark Nature Conservation Centre in Wilhelmsdorf - two children test the young animal's sharp spines. In addition to a forest school, an educational and adventure trail and many leisure activities for children, young people and senior citizens, the nature conservation centre also has an animal care station. Here, young or injured animals are taken in to be reintroduced to the wild once they have recovered and grown sufficiently. About 250 wild animals are taken into care every year. Young animals in particular are very often brought in to be rescued. Often this is not necessary as the animals continue to be cared for by their parents after they have left the nest. The little hedgehog should be fed until November and then released back into the wild. Photo: Soeren Stache/dpa-Zentralbild/ZB. - Brandenburg/Havel/Brandenburg/Germany
