Stock Photo - 11 July 2019, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Kloster: A groyne part completely destroyed by the ship's boring shell can be seen on the sandy beach between the towns of Mitte and Kloster on the Baltic island of Hiddensee. Booen are low dams built at right angles to the coast for coastal protection. Thousands of holidaymakers and day guests are counted daily on the island during the summer months. Hiddensee is largely car-free and horse and cart is a widely used means of transport. Hiddensee is about 16.8 kilometres long, at its narrowest point about 250 metres wide and at its widest about 3.7 kilometres wide. Within the National Park Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft it is the largest island. Photo: Jens Büttner/dpa-Zentralbild/ZB. - Kloster/Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania/Germany
