Stock Photo - 11 July 2022, Thuringia, Schmiedefeld Am Rennsteig: Bettina Hoffmann (l-r), Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Britta Trostorff, Project Manager of the Nature Foundation David, and Olaf Bandt, Chairman of the Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland, inspect a mountain meadow at the official launch of the large-scale nature conservation project ""Streams, Moors and Mountain Meadows in the Thuringian Forest"". The Federal Ministry for the Environment, the Thuringian Ministry for the Environment, the BUND and the Naturstiftung David are launching the project. Due to human intervention, streams and bogs can only fulfill their ecological functions to a limited extent. Lack of agricultural use endangers the future of valuable mountain meadows. This has negative consequences for the species richness as well as for the region. The aim of the new large-scale nature conservation project in the Thuringian Forest funded under the ""chance.natur"" program is to counteract this in the long term.
