Stock Photo - 11 March 2020, Brandenburg, Lebus: A bee is looking for pollen and nectar on an Adonis rose blossom on the Oder hillsides in the district of Märkisch-Oderland. The mild temperatures of the last few days have led to the blooming of the first Adonis roses this year. The area between Lebus on the Oder and Mallnow on the Oderbruch edge in East Brandenburg is one of the largest contiguous Adonis rose areas in Europe. In Brandenburg these strictly protected species only occur on the Pontic Hills north of Frankfurt (Oder). The area was declared a Trockerasen nature reserve for the poisonous flowers in 1984.
