Since a few days the locomotive with the number 99 6001 has been running here again. The steam locomotive delivered by the Krupp company on 01 July 1939 is considered by railway fans to be one of the jewels of the railway and at that time reached a maximum speed of 50 kilometres per hour. The Gernrode-Harzgeroder Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (GHE) opened the first meter-lane railway in the Harz Mountains in 1887. Since the line runs for several kilometres through the valley of the Selke river, the railway was given the nickname Selketalbahn. Today, together with the Harzquerbahn and the Brockenbahn, the railway is part of the network of the Harzer Schmalspurbahnen GmbH (HSB).
