In 1986, the village of Klein Lieskow was demolished nearby here because of the extraction of lignite. Klein Lieskow was the 101st village to be swallowed up by the coal excavator. In total, 137 homes in the Lusatian mining area disappeared in the mine. The decision to phase out coal by 2038 comes too late for many places.
