According to the Brandenburg Farmers' Association, almost every second sunflower currently in bloom in Germany is in a field in the Mark Brandenburg region. This year, sunflowers were grown on about 13,100 hectares between the Oder and Elbe rivers. Nationwide, about 28,000 hectares have been allocated to the crop.
