Stock Photo - 13 May 2020, Brandenburg, Sauen: Silvio Herold of the Arbeitskreis Wanderfalkenschutz e.V. ringed a young peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus) in the Sauener forest. On the same day, the offspring was ringed in a nest of peregrine falcons. The two volunteers Silvio Herold and Winfried Nachtigall from the Arbeitskreis Wanderfalkenschutz e.V. (AWS) took three chicks from the nest in the top of a mighty pine tree. The 26-day-old young peregrine falcons were measured, weighed and fitted with two rings each. During this time the parent birds circled over the forest area. After 20 minutes, the three birds were returned safely to their nest.
