Stock Photo - 13 May 2022, Brandenburg, Cottbus: Dorothee Schmidt-Breitung (l), restorer, Erhard Merkel, master blacksmith and Simone Neuhäuser, Head of Department Museum and Collections of the Foundation Fürst-Pückler-Museum Park and Castle Branitz, inspect the restored Oriental Dreams in Castle Branitz. The Oriental Rooms were reopened on the same day after six years of restoration. To date, they are certainly the most outstanding and famous rooms in Branitz Castle. Over the past six years, the restorers have worked on ceilings and the unique paper wallpapers in the Turkish Room, the Turkish Cabinet and the Pipe Cabinet, concealing cracks, consolidating loose layers of paint, retouching wall surfaces and conserving paper wallpapers and decorative borders. The rooms were then refurbished using sources, such as descriptions, and analogies. For the first time since his death in 1871, the three rooms can now be seen again as he presumably furnished them.
