Stock Photo - 15 June 2022, Saxony-Anhalt, Kroppenstedt: Martin Kolbe, biologist and manager at the Heineanum Red Kite Center, places a 30-day-old red kite on a blanket in a thicket at the edge of a field. The animal had previously been taken from its nest by a tree climber and is to be fitted with a transmitter. The red kite center has set itself the goal of stabilizing the red kite population in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. For this purpose, the chicks are ringed and the young birds are equipped with transmitters. Red kites are only found in Europe. Half of the bird of prey population occurs in Germany and of these, in turn, about 2000 breeding pairs live in Saxony-Anhalt. Photo: Klaus-Dietmar Gabbert/dpa. - Kroppenstedt/Saxony-Anhalt/Germany
