Stock Photo - 16 August 2021, Brandenburg, Sieversdorf: A pilgrim's shell (scallop shell) hangs from the backpack of a participant of ""Pilgrimage Together - Together against Cancer"" in the morning in the garden of the pilgrim hostel Scheffler before the start of the second stage on the Way of St. James. The 10 women and one man are making the pilgrimage on the eastern section from Frankfurt (Oder) to Berlin. Every day the pilgrims manage between 15 and 25 kilometres. For the participants, most of whom are themselves affected by cancer or are relatives of people suffering from cancer, pilgrimage is like a therapy and often the beginning of a new path. This campaign is supported by the Jakobusgesellschaft Brandenburg-Oderregion e.V., Frauenselbsthilfe Krebs and the AOK. Photo: Patrick Pleul/dpa-Zentralbild/ZB. - Sieversdorf/Brandenburg/Germany
