The well-known Spreewald gherkin has also been available as a smoking manikin since 2021. Since 2021, 56-year-old Gerd Paegert has been making the brand-name vegetable of the Spreewald, the pickled cucumber, as a smoked figure for Christmas as a hobby. Paegert has around ten different models in his range. From the female Spreewald gherkin in traditional costume to the gherkin as a cook with a cap. Each gherkin is unique and everything is made by hand. It takes about half a day to create a funny, green smoked cucumber from a piece of Douglas fir wood.
