Stock Photo - 16 July 2020, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Torgelow: View of the train station of Torgelow with its barricaded windows. The town is located at the lower Uecker in the area of the Ueckermünder Heide between the towns Pasewalk and Ueckermünde. The small town, first mentioned in 1281, now has over 9,000 inhabitants and was once founded as a trading centre at the confluence of the Uecker and Randow rivers. Many apartments and shops in the old town are empty today. The traditional foundry, which is known above all for its components weighing several tons for large wind turbines and diesel engine construction, is threatened with insolvency. The foundry has about 320 employees and is considered one of the structure-determining companies for Vorpommern.
