Stock Photo - 16 June 2023, Saxony, Chemnitz: One arch of the historic railroad viaduct in Chemnitz is scaffolded for construction work on the bridge. Since April 2022, the bridge structure over the B95, which is more than 100 years old, has been undergoing renovation in line with the requirements for a listed building. Steel girders of the 275-meter-long bridge are being recoated and need to be reinforced, as do the foundations. Over 10,500 rivets in the arch area of the structure will be replaced. In the course of the expansion of the Sachsen-Franken-Magistrale from Leipzig/Dresden via Werdau to Hof, the bridge, which was built between 1901 and 1909, was originally to be replaced by a reinforced concrete structure. However, the plans met with great protest. Photo: Hendrik Schmidt/dpa. - Chemnitz/Saxony/Germany
