Both shows open this week. The special exhibition ""The Emperor's Last Journey. Otto the Great, Connector of Worlds and Cultures"" at the Museum of Cultural History opens Wednesday, May 17, 2023. It thematizes the ""Ottonian travel royalty"". In the cathedral, starting on Thursday, the theme is ""Otto the Great, Saint Laurentius and the founding of the diocese of Merseburg - searching for traces in Merseburg's imperial cathedral"". Using documents and manuscripts from the cathedral archives and library, Otto I's special relationship with Merseburg will be illustrated.
