The new ferry on the Oder between Aurith in the Oder-Spree district and Urad in Poland has already had to take a break on the second weekend. The ferry service was closed on Saturday because the Oder River had too little water. The municipality of Brieskow-Finkenheerd informed on a sign that the ferry only runs from a water level of at least 2.30 meters. The Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration gave the water level for Eisenhüttenstadt on Saturday as 1.94 meters. Numerous cyclists and also pedestrians passed by the ferry and expressed disappointment that it could not run. The ferry had connected Aurith and Urad across the water for the first time the previous weekend. About 800 passengers took advantage of the opportunity to cross, the municipality reported.
