Stock Photo - 17 April 2022, Brandenburg, Schenkenberg: Two blackcaps (male and female) (Sylvia atricapilla) are gently held in the hand by a bird ringing operator. A ringing campaign took place in the Rietzer See nature reserve over Easter. The birds are caught with nets, measured, weighed and ringed by the trained bird ringers. The nets are continuously checked during the campaign to ensure that the birds are not subjected to unnecessary stress. The data is then entered into a central database at the Hiddensee ringing center. Thanks to the many volunteers in Germany, conclusions can be drawn about the breeding and migration behavior of the songbirds. Photo: Ingolf König-Jablonski/dpa. - Schenkenberg/Brandenburg/Germany
