They are demonstrating against poor health care in the fight against corona virus in indigenous settlements. However, the protest is also directed, among other things, against the lack of updating of a basic environmental plan and the government's unwillingness to engage in talks on the concession procedures for a private initiative for the BR-163 motorway and on the planning for Ferrogrão, a project to build a rail link between the states of Mato Grosso and Pará, which will run less than 50 kilometres from the Kayapós' territories.
